I am reminded of this conversation with a very dear, respected, and one of the most empathetic leaders I have worked with. This was a time when he was stuck in a situation beyond his control. My obvious question was,
“Aren’t you scared?”
“Aren’t you anxious?”
“Aren’t you worried?”
In his usual nonchalant manner, he shared yet another pearl of wisdom,
Whenever you are faced with anxiety, always try to turn those feelings into questions and expend your energy into finding answers to those questions rather than just wasting energy being worried.
It’s been a little over a decade since then, but I remember that conversation as fresh as ever. I have shared this tip with I don’t know how many people I have come across facing anxiety and have used it myself umpteen number of time. Some conversations are life-changing and so was this one. Thank you, Mukul Saxena.
